Writing reports. Weeks 1-6 When do I use it? To present information about an object, animal, person or place Introduce your topic. Tell what the object or animal is, who the person is or where the place is. Description:Use paragraphs with topic sentences to organise the different bundles of information. Object -size, shape and features, dynamics -where it is used and found. Person-characteristics, where he/she lives, what he/she does, achievements. Animal- its appearance, food, behaviour, habitat and breeding. Report about problems that the animal has adapting to its environment. Mention any environmental changes and how this is impacting on the animal's survival. Place- size, facts, features. Conclusion:You may want to make a personal comment about the subject of the report. ( optional) We will be working in kagan cooperative groups to find, organise, summarise and present our findings.
Poetry writing.Weeks 6-9
Poetry We will be reading a variety of different poems to give us good ideas. We will be practicing reading poetry aloud, in class and also for homework. We will be revising haiku and cinquain poetry. We will be experimenting with poems for two voices and working with our Kagan buddies to create great poems about our chosen animal. We will be experimenting with shape poetry. We will be learning how to write limericks. We will be reading the poems we have written to our classmates and reading to our buddies in 4a. We will publish some good examples of our poetry on our wiki pages.
